Bucking Bronco Pic

When it comes to thrill and excitement, there is nothing quite like the rodeo. Gay rodeo is a serious event and includes all the regular attractions of a traditional rodeo, including bull and bronc riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Of course, there are also the usual CAMP events like Goat Dressing, Steer Decorating, and Wild Drag Race.  Gay Rodeo is not JUST for Gays, Gay or straight, if you want to pursue this growing attraction, you too can become a gay rodeo cow-person.

HERE IS HOW YOU DO IT!

  • Step 1

Contact the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) for participation rules and regulations, as well as listings for upcoming events. The IGRA does not restrict participation to gender or sexual orientation; anyone can participate in the gay rodeo circuit.

  • Step 2

Locate your local IGRA chapter (Thats US) to participate in local events and practice for your event. From time to time local gay rodeo chapters will organize "buckouts," which provide training and practice for various rodeo events with actual rodeo, stock animals. Most local chapters can also guide you to other resources for learning and practicing your specific event.

  • Step 3

Pay an entry fee and participate with other gay cowboys in the next IGRA event. There are no qualifications for most rodeos, however you may participate in finals rodeo by invitation only. If you are serious and pay the entry fee, you can compete in any event.

  • Step 4

Participate in the IGRA rodeo circuit if you are a cowgirl, gay or straight, as you are not able to compete in traditional rodeo. Cowboys, gay or straight, who don't have the time or resources for qualification in the traditional rodeo circuit are also encouraged to participate.
